Duncan McKinlay was initiated into Anima Lodge No. 1223 (Glasgow) in 1968. He celebrated his Golden Anniversary as a Freemason with his Installation as Worshipful Master of Mowbray Lodge No. 2993 in Cape Town.
Joining the double celebration were the District Grand Master, Ernest Malherbe, his deputy, two Assistants, two Past District Grand Masters and many distinguished guests including representatives from the Irish, Scottish and South African Constitutions. His proposer Jim Duggan (Past District Grand Master) did the toast to the Worshipful Master and outlined Duncan’s fascinating masonic career and in particular his exemplary work for charity over the years. Jim also quipped that when Duncan first arrived in South Africa he steered him away from the Scottish Constitution Lodges in Cape Town by quickly proposing him as a joining member of Mowbray Lodge.L to R: Pieter Kotze, Ian Pringle, Duncan McKinlay, Ernest Malherbe and John Ackermann
