Phoenix Lodge Market – a Lockdown Initiative

The Phoenix market idea was sparked in a committee meeting and the suggestion was supported by the brethren of Phoenix Lodge.

“Our first market was held on Sunday, October 25, 2020,” said the Worshipful Master. “We hosted a total of 25 traders including three food trucks and a coffee trailer. Making this happen for these traders, during such trying times, proved to be the biggest success of the day, with all the sellers eager to return for the next monthly market.”

Funds raised for the lodge includes R 4800 (cumulative rent from stalls) and a bar revenue of R 4000.

Phoenix Lodge members policed Covid-19 protocols, ensuring everyone wore masks, temperatures were taken and recorded . Social distancing of 1.5m apart during eating or drinking was applied.

“Thank you to the brethren of Phoenix lodge who supported us on the day with a special mention to those who travelled from Edgemead to be there.”

Phoenix Lodge will host its next market on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

Well done Phoenix Lodge!
